The Boy Who Grew a Forest: The True Story of Jadav Payeng tells the story of how a man from the time of his youth started, grew, and protected the Molai Forest in India. South American Cloud Forest gives a peek at a forest in another part of the world. Beavers parachuted from the sky in The Skydiving Beavers: A True Tale to protect the habitats of the beavers and humans. Crafting with Recyclables shares the environmental impact of using recyclable materials in crafts. Relating to both beavers and the environment, How Did They Build That? Dam explains how dams are built. The activities with this bundle include responding to questions about reading, researching and writing about different types of forests, comparing and contrasting two nonfiction texts, writing an account of a historical event in first person, creating a craft from recyclable materials, and researching and writing about the impact of dams. Opportunities are provided for students to generate questions, reflect on their learning, and share what they have learned. Great for media specialists and teachers looking for standards-based activities to aid in the support of remote learning or for parents wanting to help or enhance their child’s education with content-rich books and activities!
