Manhattan Book Review - Lulu & Rocky in Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky receives a note from his Aunt Fancy. She invites him to meet his cousin Lulu, their friend Pufferson, and their guide, Henry, at the Stanley Hotel (which just might be haunted!) in Estes Park, Colorado. They will be exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. Rocky packs his things and, when he arrives at the hotel, finds his group. The next day, they hike into the park to set up tents before going into the Moraine Park Discovery Center. It’s a good thing, too, as a thunderstorm hits with lots of rain. They find out about becoming Junior Rangers. They enjoy singing under the stars, fishing, wildlife watching, and other exciting times during their visit.

This fifth installment in the Lulu & Rocky Adventures series has all the fun readers have come to expect. Author Barbara Joosse nails Rocky’s voice and shows many wonders of the parks through her words, while the illustrations by Renée Graef are spectacular, with gorgeous backgrounds and lots of fun details about the places Lulu and Rocky visit. The characters are so cute. The park map and the back matter will give youngsters lots of great information. This is a super fun book in a great series.
