Westward Expansion
Westward Journeys is a collection of three short stories that focus on westward expansion in the United States during the 1800's. The Oregon Trail and Westward Expansion shares three different perspectives of life during the same time period. The activities in this bundle include reading and identifying story elements (setting, characters, main idea, etc.), responding to questions about reading, creating an annotated timeline, comparing a fictional character's experience to a perspective based in fact, and composing journal entries from the point of view of a person who lived during this time. Opportunities are provided for students to generate questions, reflect on their learning, and share what they have learned.
