Hide Fish Hide!
Sea Creature Camouflage
Award-winning author Derick Wilder delivers this fact-filled fishy tale showcasing the amazing ways marine life can adapt and defend.
It’s a beautiful day to be living in the ocean. The sun is shining, and the water is a glorious blue. But wait . . . something big, something hungry, something menacing is approaching. It’s a great white shark! Luckily, there’s no reason for alarm. From ink-releasing cuttlefish to burrowing flounder to camouflaging leafy dragon, all the local sea creatures seem to have a way to hide from our hungry shark. Well, almost all. Puffer fish finds that all the best hiding places are taken. What can a poor puffer do? As it turns out, Puffer has a trick or two, so Great White isn’t guaranteed an easy meal. And the hungry shark soon learns that even big guys need to watch their tails.
Back matter provides additional information about all the crafty ways sea creatures use camouflage to avoid becoming a snack.
