Joyce Markovics has written more than 500 nonfiction children's books (or at least two giraffe-sized stacks) on topics ranging from killer plants and marvelous mummies to protest marches and Black filmmakers. She recently started her own book development company, Bowerbird Books. Joyce is passionate about telling stories that captivate and inspire young readers. In her free time, she cleans old gravestones, collects oddities, and volunteers at an animal sanctuary.

Alrick A. Brown is a storyteller and an Assistant Professor at NYU who uses filmmaking to touch the hearts and challenge the minds of his audiences. His creativity is shaped by his time living and working in West Africa, and his upbringing in New Jersey, and his travels around the world.
